Starting from the call „International Campaign for Revolutionary Anarchism and Solidarity with Revolutionary Prisoners“, which was published last winter, we want to discuss common perspectives with you. This call was written from solidarians in Athens to the case of Dimitris Chatzivasileiadis and his conviction to sixteen years in prison for participation in the Organization of Revolutionary Self-Defense.
Revolutionary Self-Defense was a revolutionary anarchist organization active from 2014-2017. During it’s years, the organization took responsibility for five armed attacks: against the headquarters of the greek political party PASOK, the Mexican Embassy in Athens, the French Embassy in Athens and two attacks against the greek riot police (MAT) in front of PASOK offices in the neighborhood of Exarchia. The group claimed to „put all its strength into the construction of the broad armed social resistance and is struggling to construct a mass internationalist revolutionary movement, by strengthening militant resistance on the entire spectrum of class antagonism.“
After the robbery of a betting office in Ocrober 2019, in which he was injured, Dimitris Chatzivasileiadis was on the run for almost two years. With his arrest in Thessaloniki last year, the period of armed resistance in Greece seems to have been interrupted for the time being. That not only the armed struggle can have a revolutionary potential is obvious and so the above call poses some questions, the answers to which are one of the aims of our event.
Where do our movements stand faced with the immense challenges and demands of our epoch?
Can we retrace our revolutionary roots?
Can we become the creative force that can effectively abolish the cannibalistic authority of the rich few over the many?
In the event, the positions of Dimitris from jail will exchange with ours and hopefully with yours to develop a common ground for the creation of a revolutionary practice. We do not intend to organize an information event about anarchy in Greece, but we want to find out with you the necessities and possibilities in our region. The framework are further questions about the effects of repression and the meaning of solidarity, the meaning of social tensions and the question of the legitimization of self-defense by society. What can be the trigger for a revolutionary movement and do we need a ground like Exarchia or squats? Is the anarchist movement missing a theoretical base or agenda like Maoism or Marxism offers?

Diskussion über die Perspektiven revolutionärer Solidarität

Ausgehend von dem Aufruf „International Campaign for Revolutionary Anarchism and Solidarity with Revolutionary Prisoners“, der letzten Winter veröffentlicht wurde, wollen wir gemeinsame Perspektiven mit dir diskutieren. Dieser Aufruf wurde von solidarischen Personen in Athen zum Verfahren von Dimitris Chatzivasileiadis und seiner Verurteilung zu sechzehn Jahren Haft für die Teilnahme an der Organisierung von Revolutionäre Selbstverteidigung verfasst.

Revolutionäre Selbstverteidigung war eine revolutionäre anarchistische Organisation und von 2014 bis 2017 aktiv. In diesen Jahren übernahm die Organisation für fünf bewaffnete Angriffe die Verantwortung: auf das Hauptquartier der griechischen Partei PASOK, die mexikanische Botschaft in Athen, die französische Botschaft in Athen und zwei Angriffe auf die griechische Bereitschaftspolizei (MAT) vor PASOK Büros in dem Viertel Exarchia. Die Gruppe gab an, „all ihre Kraft für den Aufbau des breiten bewaffneten sozialen Widerstands zu geben und kämpft, durch die Stärkung militanten Widerstands im gesamten Spektrum der Klassenfeindschaft, für den Aufbau einer massenhaften revolutionären Bewegung.“

Nach dem Raubüberfall auf ein Wettbüro im Oktober 2019, im zuge dessen er verletzt wurde, war Dimitris Chatsivasileiadis fast zwei Jahre lang auf der Flucht. Seit seiner Festnahme in Thessaloniki im letzten Jahr scheint die Periode des bewaffneten Widerstands in Griechenland erst einmal auf Eis gelegt. Dass nicht nur bewaffneter Kampf revolutionäres Potenzial haben kann scheint offensichtlich, also stellt o.g. Aufruf einige Fragen, deren Antworten wir in der Veranstaltung auf den Grund gehen wollen.

Wo stehen unsere Bewegungen angesichts der immensen Herausforderungen und Ansprüche unserer Epoche?

Können wir unsere revolutionären Wurzeln zurückverfolgen?

Können wir die kreative Kraft werden, die effektiv die kannibalistische Autorität der wenigen Reichen über die Vielen beseitigen kann?

Während des Events werden die Positionen von Dimitris im Knast mit den unseren und hoffentlich mit deinen ausgetauscht, um eine gemeinsame Basis für die Schaffung einer revolutionären Praxis zu entwickeln. Wir haben nicht vor, eine Infoveranstaltung über Anarchie in Griechenland zu machen, sondern wollen zusammen mit dir die Notwendigkeiten und Möglichkeiten in unserem Gebiet herausfinden. Der Rahmen sind weitere Fragen über die Auswirkungen von Repression und die Bedeutung von Solidarität, die Bedeutung von sozialen Spannungen und die Frage nach der legitimierung von Selbstverteidigung durch die Gesellschaft. Was kann der Auslöser für eine revolutionäre Bewegung sein und brauchen wir einen Boden wie Exarchia oder Besetzungen? Fehlt dem Anarchismus eine Theoretische Basis oder Agenda wie der Maoismus oder Marxismus bietet?
